Developed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth.
Based on how infants react to separation from their mother, three main styles were identified:
1. Secure: Distressed when mom leaves, happy when she returns.
2. Avoidant: Indifferent to mom's presence or absence.
3. Anxious: Extremely distressed, angry upon return.
These patterns often repeat in adult relationships. Anxious adults seek constant reassurance, while avoidant adults push intimacy away.
